Whatta' Weekend: BarnHouse Season Opener, 2nd Saturdayz Debut, AND Petite Retreat Debut!

There is SO MUCH going on in the Northwest this weekend!
 The fabulous Boys of BarnHouse, Joe & Jermonne, are hosting their season opener show on Saturday May 8th, in Battle Ground, Washington (Vancouver area). Check here for info & directions.

We are so grateful to the Boys for their generous spirits - they asked us to bring them some Retreat products for this show and for their web site. To be asked is an honor, believe us! Then we took a look at the 'Guest' list and nearly keeled over... our little Retreat treasures will be presented alongside those from an absolutely stellar roster of Northwest vintage dealers:

Worthy Goods
Bella
Auntie Joy
Madison Park
Queen of Tarte
Little Cottage
Sparrow
Camas Antiques
Lynne G
The Withies
The Broughs
Busy Biddy
Retreat

If you can make it to their show, plan to arrive EARLY. These are madhouse events!
Saturday the 8th is also the debut of a new show in Seattle: 2nd Saturdayz at Sand Point!
Held in the 'workshop' area attached to Hangar 30 at Magnussen Park, this is sure to be a high-energy, high-quality show - Linda of Luluz, John Bob Cool Junk, and Janet of Blue Ewe are the promoters, and they know shows! We won't get to attend one of these until AUGUST because of our traveling schedule, but we are excited about them!!!

And of course we'll be hosting our own Spring Petite Retreat here at our farm on Camano Island both Saturday May 8 and Sunday May 9. We open at 10 both days, and Poppyseeds will be here on Saturday, too!

We hope you can make plans to attend one or more of these amazing events
Get out there and support your local vintage industry!!!

Oh, JOY!

Yes, I said Oh, JOY!

What a Show!

We had a WONDERFUL time at the Remnants of the Past Antique Show this weekend! What a pleasure to be in such good company, among new friends and so many beautiful treasures that it boggled the mind. We are so blessed to have been a part of Judy's incredible world.

Here are a few photos of our booth... more are on our Facebook Page!
Can you even imagine a more perfect setting for a show?! We can't!
{OK, well, except for our own farm!}

Showtime!

Today was set up day at the Remnants of the Past show in Nipomo, California... can you SEE the sunset reflected in the mirror above?
And let's talk about the orchards of LEMON trees, perfectly placed to add the perfect natural accent to our displays. And the fragrance of those blossoms.... oh, lawdy, I SWOON!
No, that unripe lemon is not a prop. That's where the branch ended up popping forward out of the tree behind the cash wrap. Incredible. I could not have planned it better myself!

This place is astounding... everywhere you turn, it's a photo op. And that's just the farm, barn, gardens and historic home. Add 50 of the best vendors we've ever SEEN and it's just eye candy everywhere. There was a fabulous dinner party this evening in the gardens. Photos of that next week!

It's been a long, busy day working in hot sun (YAY!) getting everything in our orchard-side booth just so. There are some very and I DO mean VERY special guests attending this show. {I can't tell you who they are because then I'd have to kill you. ;0) } OK, you know about the fabulous Sue Whitney of JunkMarket - SHE'S a VIP. And an absolute doll - we met her tonight at dinner. A couple of magazines. And... I heard to day that her highness will be in attendance. She's on a West Coast tour right now. She's very .... chic. Yes. That's all I can say. ;0)

And to top it ALL off, tonight at 8:30 PM, we watched our only son get married on a beach in Maui! Yes, via the wonders of the Internet, family participated via web cam as they said their vows and became husband and wife. We welcome our 'fourth daughter' with open arms and full hearts!

Yep, it's been a busy day... and things aren't about to slow down any time soon!!! We hope we get to see you at the show tomorrow!

California, Here We Come!

We are THRILLED to announce our participation in Judy Watkins' incredible show, Remnants of the Past. Judy recently invited us to join the stellar lineup of talent coming to her spring show in Nipomo, California on April 24 - and after we picked ourselves up off the floor, we jumped at the chance to take Retreat on the road back 'home' to California!

Please visit www.RemnantsofthePast.com for show information, directions, and details. You can also see the vendor list {I just sent her our info, so I don't think we are listed yet} and read more about special guest Sue Whitney, of JunkMarket!

So, for those of you following us from Central & Southern California, we'll be in your area in just one short month. We hope you will plan to attend... we'd love to meet you!

'The Collection' Vintage Show Opening Night

They came, they gasped, they smiled, they hugged, they shopped!
Tonight's opening of the first Come Junk With Us 'Collection' Vintage Show
was without a doubt a HUGE hit! The line was looooong, and the building was so crowded that it was hard to see it all. I think we made a few dozen laps around. Had to pass the buffet table and the wine tasting each time... oh my.... and my husband was waylaid several times {by Kathryn in the kitchen, Kimberly in the aisle and at the door, Lisa in a booth, and Annie on the aisle.} Should I be worried?!!

MANY of the photos I took didn't turn out because there were so many people moving around, and I am so bummed. I apologize to the sweet gals whose booths I photographed but do not appear here... I hope that Amber, Tiffany, Kimberly, and other photographers will share their photos as well so that you can get some well-deserved attention!

WSU Laura made sure everyone could get their official Junk Queen Gear!

Girls Gone Glam definitely brought the glitz!
Great job by Jan-Marie & Debbie
{Jan-Marie sells her marvelous antiques in our old space at Faded Elegance -
have you SEEN what she's done with it?! AWESOME!}

Her Highness the Queen of Tarte has done it again...
sheer spring-y joy in her booth!

Speaking of Joy.... Auntie Joy's booth outdoors was so perfect
I could have moved in! {She and I also wore nearly the same outfit and jewels!}

Kathryn's buffet setting was a lovely as her food
{curried chicken salad. that's all I'm sayin'.
I've been jonesin' for that stuff since the BH Flea LAST July...}

Just one little corner of the marvelously beautiful space
that MARY Larsen from Annie's in Snohomish put together!
I am ASHAMED of myself for forgetting that this was her booth.
{Miss Mary goes way back with us...
way back to both having had spaces at Faded Elegance.
We've come a long way, haven't we, Mary?!!}

Springtime personified from Sandra at Home Enjoyables
and Kay at The Weathered Rose Co.

Lovely natural palette from Tamara, who also works
at Annie's on First in Snohomish
{thanks for the correction, Annie!}

More lovely natural tones from Wild Whimsy
{I LOVE their guitar sign!}

Bling Bling Bling!
kick me. I lost her card.

Julie Herbison sells antiques with plants...
did she plan that?!

And of course Timi has gone over the top, past the edge, beyond the limit, and generally OVERdone everything to make this a stellar event for everyone involved. But as my friend Sue Kirby always says, "Why DO when you can OVER-DO?!" Timi clearly lives this philosophy, because everything she does is a HUGE hit!

Have you seen enough?
Of course NOT!
Get yourselves over to Bothell on Saturday morning!!!

Sunday January 31 2010
Right Now!
Starts in: 3....2....1...

Flirt!

Yes {to those who have asked}
the marvelously curvy wine rack shown in a previous post
WILL make an appearance at Sand Point this Sunday!
Just in case you were curious about how tall she actually IS....
here's a shot I snapped of Bob as he was 'finessing the model'
{6' tall} during her photo shoot today:
I always knew he was a leg man.
He also likes a nice seat.
Me? I go for well-shaped arms.
And a really awesomely defined back.

That bench back is 5' high, by the way.
You might say 'Stately'. Or maybe 'BUILT'. wink.
{You really need to be at the show this Sunday, you know.
'Cause we know what turns YOU on, too...}

First Show of 2010!

NEXT SUNDAY is the first Sand Point Antique & Design Market of the year in Seattle- we'll be there, will you? We've prepared an incredible array of marvelous furnishings & home decor for late winter & spring, and are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

{We will not be at Sand Point again until August, by the way... there's no show in March, and we'll be at Farm Chicks during the June Sand Point show.}

If you are on our email mailing list, make sure you watch your inbox for a 'Retreat Treat' redeemable at the show. If you haven't done so yet, sign up by sending an email to RetreatStyle@gmail.com, and you'll receive our next 'Retreat Treat'.
