The Very Pink of Perfection

Softness, affection, innocence, and love...
Hues of carnation, fuchsia, cherry blossom, magenta, lavender rose, puce, amaranth, cerise.
Oh the beauty and bliss of being tickled pink...

Junk Collage?

I Googled 'Collaged Furniture' and found this image.

{Silly me. I was thinking paper collaged onto furniture... not furniture collaged onto furniture!} Artist Thomas Wold's creation, as seen on Apartment Therapy blog, reminds me of the casework created for a retail wine shop that I wrote about on my retail design blog. This stuff is COOL and I'm heading out to the shop to grab some 'junk orphans' to see what I can create. What do you think about it?? Too progressive for the vintage set - or just quirky enough to elicit squeals of delight?

Ok, then... you win!

Finding beauty in tough times

I have a friend who writes a really interesting blog called Reconstruction.
It's a collection of beauty found in places that have hardly any life.
Thinking about that concept, I remembered the colorful
Argentinian neighborhood La Boca.
Located in Buenos Aires,
La Boca was the main port in the city,
where ships would stop
bringing among things Italian immigrants looking for opportunities.

With the feeling of hope also came the "saudade" of their hometown.
The Italians them started to paint their homes with the reminiscent
paint from the port boats. Since there wasn't enough of one color,
the houses became little rainbows and with that small change,
life came to them.

This is just a reminder that it's possible to live,
be happy and be beautiful in tough times. :)

as casas viraram pequenos arco-íris. E com essa pequena mudança a vida
retornou aquele lugar.
