My home in London

My family moodboard is shaping up...

I'm getting more prints enlarged next week including this one of my brother in Barcelona and one from Christophe (Elodie's husband) pictured here. At the moment, I haven't decided if I lose the black Japanese tape on the wall (the truth is that the masking tape keeps falling off the wall and it's driving me nuts) and do something like this instead or maybe a mix.
I don't want to frame every single photo because I want to retain the informal vibe that our family home has and I like the white space between each photo so right now, I just let it sink.
The two photos were taken by Francois and were my first attempt to interior photo stylism...

Mon family moodboard commence a prendre forme...

Stockholm flat to sell

If you're looking to buy a gorgeous, stylish flat in Stockholm, you're in luck, I found you one....No seriously, it has been a while since I did a house tour but I couldn't resist Lotta Agaton's home now on the market, because I think a lot of inspiration for final touches can be drawn from these room shots.
Typical of scandinavian homes (which we all love, don't we!?), Lotta's place is looking very welcoming, light and airy and very graphic too!
Lots of B&W prints from Therese and black home accessories....a black rubber vase on a white coffee table, a white floor-standing light next to a dark sofa. A bit of nature with a few green ceramic vases like these mixed with soft wood vessels...and a set of Hans Wegner wishbone chairs...
My top favourite details:
*
the narrow shelf in the lounge displaying prints and big letters adding a creative 3-Dimension to the wall
* the two prints in the kitchen...simple and almost soothing
*
the big numbers on each side of the doorframe. Yes corridors are often boring and these numbers give a positive visual kick to the wall
*
the big EAT letters in the kitchen (as per above).

My bedroom in B&W

My brother Francois took these photos...
I love no 1 & no 2. For the past week, I have been living in this fur vintage jacket, bought for 20 Euros during my last trip to France (very Isabel Marant according to my friend Mandy) and either this pair of Swedish Hasbeens or that one (they were in the sale!)

Photo 1: Sweet sign bought in New-Zealand, Vintage mirror given by Elodie for my birthday years ago
Photo 2:
Mila's 3-D black glasses, B&W photography book. Photo 3: Print on the wall by Therese Sennerholt, Owl vase by House Doctor, linen headboard made by my mum and I, linen pillow covers from Merci Photo 4: 4-string cluster lightKathleen Hills Photo 5: Vintage fur jacket bought in France for 20 Euros, Swedish hasbeens clogs (see retail therapy here).

Dutch inspiration

By Day...
16/12/2010:
2pm: Crisis hit us...No more Royal Mail Dispatch Express labels. Over 350 parcels sitting on our packing table which we can't send.
3pm: Body gives in and neck gets stuck...purely and simply. I can't bent over, turn left or right without being in excruciating pain
5pm: off to bed to fool my body and make it believe I will relax
9pm: Steve emailed me from Hong-Kong where he and Mila on the first leg of their flight to N-Z
17/12/2010
8am: Neck back to normal, off to work
4pm: Call Royal Mail to track down supply order. Get told they may arrive the day after we've closed for the holidays. Stress level get a promotion...Email everyone I know at RM including IT and accounts to get someone to help...no luck
4.30pm: Call back RM. Luck strikes...The person on the phone tells me that I should have ordered them before...
And I'm sitting on my chair full of 'can do/there must be a solution' attitude...thinking...that's bound to help me...I have been working from 8am to 11 pm for the past 8 weeks, had our Customer Service Advisor leaving us suddenly for health reasons at our busiest time ever and all this girl can tell me is that I should have planned this...nevermind
6pm: Come up with a back-up plan to print label on normal office labels. Crisis sorted in 24 hours (call me Jack Bauer)
8pm: Order curry, skype Steve & Mila who are now in New-Zealand. Mila has already fed the cows, had ice-cream for breakfast and is watching Barbie...
By night
Since I saw this home in Elle Decoration, it has been the template of what I would like to achieve with our kitchen in London...a simple, yet functional space stripped of the unnecessary...no kitchen units on the walls to keep a sense of space, just simple shelves to display beautiful, organic tableware (mine is Vera Wang's Naturals first spotted at Merci in Paris and tracked down in the UK), ideally a mix of vintage, wooden furniture with industrial, concrete finishes and a big, big table to have at least 12 people around. So here is more images of one of my favourite homes.

Gorgeous Danish flat

I've already posted Mia-Louise's beautiful home in Denmark last May but she sent me another article about her home featured in Bolig magazine and I hadn't realized in the first feature how HU-GE and beautiful her lounge was! Her space is feeling so airy and relax....so homely and her beautiful handmade prints look even more stunning on her walls. I love how simple yet striking The Old Oak's Last Dream and The Drop of Water prints look above her bed...very scandi.
And I really thank her for mentioning BODIE and FOU to Danish readers as one of her favourite shops! Right..I'm off, I have brownies and diner to finish for Steve's surprise B'day diner.

J'adore le look de The Old Oak's Last Dream et The Drop of Water au-dessus de son lit..tres scandi.

Kitchen with concrete floor

Steve and I have recently agreed to transform our lounge into something similar to what photographer Paul Massey did with his home. This is quite a big job. A lot of structural work is involved and the whole family (Lucas included) would have to move out for at least 6 weeks.
My friend Mandy who is trying to convince her husband to put large black floorboards in their lounge asked me how on earth I managed to do this..you know... to get him on board, to agree to what I want.
Umm...if I knew, I would probably write a book called :"How to convince your husband to let you do whatever YOU want in the house" and I would probably be rich :-)
The truth is that I never take no for an answer...I spent months showing him rooms, homes, styles I like and at first, I was only getting negative, grumpy and stressed out NOs but I would come back to it later on with similar styles but different images...Persistance girls, persistance!!
Now that we have also agreed to a new kitchen with polished concrete floor like this home in Amsterdam, I have to show him the kitchen below from Paula Leen's home...although probably not from my post with the comment above :-) Have a great week!
